Do you really understand your financial situation when it comes to buying a home?

Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate – Andrew Fielding

I was reading a publication that came across my desk today and an article caught my attention. One of the most important parts of all realtor’s jobs is ensuring that our clients are as educated as possible about every aspect of the transaction.

We often have the opportunity to help first time homebuyers make their dream of owning a home come true. many of these people look to us for guidance in finding their next home, however, we have much more to offer.

One of the common issues, and probably most important, is the financial side of the transaction. How much down payment do they have, can they afford the house they’re looking at, can they even afford to be looking!

The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) has recently launched a great website full of unbiased and independant information that can help buyers at any stage in their life.

The website has several tools available, such as: Three Steps to Successful Mortgage Shopping, Paying of Your Mortgage Faster and Understanding your Credit Report and Credit Score. They have tip sheets to help with budgeting, shopping for a mortgage and how to protect yourself from real estate fraud.
